UAE National Day, celebrated on December 2, marks the historic unification of the seven Emirates in 1971. This year, the celebration was renamed Eid Al Etihad, translating to “Festival of Union,” symbolizing unity and pride across the nation. In honor of this significant milestone, Al-Futtaim Lexus introduced a bold and innovative tribute by transforming its iconic ‘L’ badge into a ‘7,’ symbolizing the unity of the UAE’s seven Emirates.

A brand’s logo is often considered sacred—an untouchable element of identity, particularly for global brands like Lexus. Known for its luxury and innovation, the Lexus ‘L’ badge is recognized worldwide. Yet, in a surprising move, Lexus flipped its logo across all platforms in the days leading up to Eid Al Etihad, sparking curiosity and intrigue. Social media profiles, steering wheels, rims, and badges showcased the flipped design, leaving audiences puzzled yet captivated.

The transformation was revealed just in time for the Eid Al Etihad celebrations, unveiling a deeper message: when inverted, the Lexus ‘L’ perfectly forms the number 7, symbolizing the seven Emirates and the spirit of unity that defines the UAE. The campaign celebrated not just the nation but also Lexus’ enduring legacy in the region.

“Lexus holds deep cultural significance and heritage in the UAE. This gesture was a natural expression of our appreciation for the nation and a celebration of the brand’s connection to its people,” said Karim Hassanein, Senior Marketing Manager at Al-Futtaim Lexus.

The campaign’s impact extended beyond visual appeal. Lexus owners across the UAE embraced the tribute, sharing images of their steering wheels with flipped logos on social media, further amplifying the brand’s message of unity and pride.

This initiative highlighted the power of a simple yet meaningful gesture. By reimagining its logo, Lexus showcased creativity, storytelling, and community strength. Temporary logo changes tied to socially relevant causes, like this one, can resonate deeply with audiences, strengthening brand identity and emotional connection.

Lexus’ tribute is a testament to how daring, purpose-driven branding can leave a lasting impression. By flipping its logo, Lexus didn’t just celebrate the UAE—it inspired a sense of togetherness, proving that even small changes can create a powerful impact when rooted in genuine intent.
