Farah Farooq Appointed as Head of Communications for HSBC MENAT

HSBC has announced the appointment of Farah Farooq as the Head of Communications for the Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye (MENAT) region, effective 1 February 2025.

In her new role, Farah will spearhead HSBC’s communications strategy across the MENAT region, leveraging the bank’s strong legacy while aligning with the region’s ambitious economic transformation agendas. She will also focus on positioning MENAT as a key pillar of HSBC’s global operations, emphasizing its role as a strategic economic, trading, and wealth hub connecting East and West.

Based in Dubai, Farah will report functionally to Jessica Lee, Interim Group Head of Communications, Businesses & Markets at HSBC, and locally to Selim Kervancı, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC MENAT.

With over two decades of experience in financial services, Farah is a seasoned communications leader known for building and empowering high-performing teams. During her 14-year tenure at HSBC, she has managed communications for various business lines and markets in the Middle East and Europe. Most recently, as Head of Communications for the UAE, she played a pivotal role in shaping and sharing HSBC’s growth narrative.

Prior to joining HSBC, Farah led the financial communications practice at Weber Shandwick in the Middle East, working with prominent government entities, financial institutions, multilateral banks, and investment agencies.
